Transforming Academic Publishing in Nigeria: The FUTMinna BookHub Project Local authors in Nigeria often struggle to publish and distribute their work, primarily due to limited publishing infrastructure and financial constraints. At the same time, Nigerian institutions frequently rely on outdated or foreign materials that may not align with local research needs. To address these challenges, the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMinna) is pioneering a new approach to academic publishing through its Academic Publishing Centre (APC). By embracing Open Access (OA) publishing, FUTMinna aims to make academic materials freely available to students, educators, and researchers across the country. Central to this effort is the BookHub platform—our open-source solution for publishing locally authored academic books. By cultivating a sustainable publishing ecosystem, the FUTMinna BookHub project will serve as a model for institutions throughout Nigeria.
